Job Title:Logistics Coordinator

Description:     Provide daily support to the business units and customer service by managing issues with ground and international shipments and providers. The goal is to ensure safe and timely delivery of all customer orders while maintaining cost competitiveness and an efficient supply chain.


Responsibilities (May include but are not limited to):


    • Effectively utilize the transportation management system to proactively identify and resolve all issues with shipments or carriers
    • Ensure all customs documents, ocean bills of lading and other necessary items are complete and accurate to prevent delays in international shipments
    • Complete bookings of shipments with international providers
    • Respond to service reports for safety or service related issues from third party trucking carriers in a timely manner by ensuring that carriers have implemented effective corrective action
    • Proactively identify bottlenecks in the supply chain and implement an appropriate solution
    • Work closely with truck and ocean providers to ensure efficient and effective execution of defined processes and goods transportation
    • Re-route freight as needed to meet demands and minimize costs
    • Review, reconcile and investigate truck detention and accessorial charges and dispute as needed. Suggest changes to prevent charges from occurring
    • Attend business inventory meetings and service report meetings
    • Provide regular verbal and written status reports to logistics and business unit management
    • Problem solve truck movement and BOL issues, including communication to appropriate business units
  • Create and maintain daily, weekly and monthly statistics
  • Maintain carrier insurance certificates and other documentation required by carriers
  • Complete Automated Export System (AES) filings for all outbound international shipments
  • Verify all customs documents and ocean bills of lading for accuracy to prevent
  • Understand the production and business of iron oxide


Required Education / Competencies / Equivalent Experience (Prior to hire / transfer):

  • Minimum of two years logistics experience required
  • Knowledge of bulk hazardous material truckload shipping a plus
  • Experience with international freight preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred
  • Must be an action oriented self-starter with positive attitude and keen problem solving abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications including Outlook, Work, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of ERP or similar systems
  • Transportation management system (TMS) experience preferred
