Job Title:Senior Reliability Mfg Eng


The Senior Reliability Manufacturing Engineer is a corporate resource responsible for leading maintenance and reliability strategies and the technical optimization and troubleshooting across PVS Manufacturing operations.  Reliability Manufacturing Engineers play a key role in managing process safety, equipment reliability, and developing and implementing equipment improvement and equipment improvement teams.  Reliability Manufacturing Engineers may also support smaller capital projects or perform process design work; however, for larger projects this would be in conjunction with a Project or Process Engineer. The Senior Reliability Manufacturing Engineer reports to the Director of Manufacturing Services.  


Primary Responsibilities (May include but not limited to):

  • Leads overall implementation and utilization of global Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Ensures the maintenance strategy for the plant aligns with the business strategy and operation plans
  • Prepares capital budget forecasts, cost estimates and operational plan for equipment reliability improvements
  • Leads the design and implementation of a global asset strategy. Supports development and implementation of site mechanical integrity programs including PM (Preventive Maintenance) and PdM (Predictive Maintenance) plans to sustain and enhance plant facility reliability.
  • Utilizes Total Process Reliability (TPR) Framework. Leads focus improvement, planned/predictive maintenance, and quality maintenance initiatives as well as the relevant training programs.
  • Manages plant projects including the coordination of detailed engineering, provide construction oversight, the development of new procedures, implementation of Lean programs, and the commissioning and start-up of projects that involve changes or have impact on the process.
  • Perform basic engineering designs to support new small projects or process changes. This includes defining scopes, equipment sizing, cost estimates, P&ID’s and other design documents. For larger efforts the reliability manufacturing engineer would work closely with a project engineers to support design standards.
  • Helps plan plant shutdowns and facilitates and coordinates project work and safety as appropriate for each shutdown.
  • Supports sites in the development and maintaining Process Safety Information and Compliance information such as P&ID’s, PFD’s and heat and material balances and calculations for safety devices (relief values, rupture disks) Coordinates MOC’s and the management of change documentation pertaining to projects that they lead . Participate in site audits of Process Safety Management (PSM) activities and help sites with related compliance challenges.
  • Work as a member of the corporate engineering leadership of PVS to help coordinate and achieve Manufacturing and Engineering Goals and initiatives.
  • As a Senior Engineer, he/she is expected to mentor less experienced plant, reliability and project engineers or site maintenance and operating personnel.

Required Education / Skills / Equivalent Experience (Prior to hire / transfer):

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical , industrial or civil engineering
  • CMRP or CRL Certification highly desirable
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the chemical processing industry including plant maintenance and operations and can show success in the following areas.
    • Leading improvements in Chemical plant maintenance and technical operations support 
    • Developing and Implementing global asset management strategies and mechanical integrity programs
    • Implementation and utilization of CMMS software (eMaint)
    • Overseeing small construction projects involving various engineering disciplines
    • Knowledge in continuous improvement strategies such as Lean, Six Sigma, TPR, and qualifications in one of these methodologies or similar experience is desirable.
    • Experience as a supervisor, either in a technical role or in and operating role.
  • Familiarity with the following:
    • Experience with Responsible Care and various Process Safety Management tools (i.e. Hazop)
    • Experience with developing standards / procedures for plant reliability and operations
    • Experience with maintenance planning and other maintenance best practices.
    • Understanding of OSHA Process Safety Management 29 CFR 1910.119, and EPA Risk Management Plan requirements.
    • Understanding of environment issues and various permitting requirements relative to chemical plant operations.
